Did you know the University of South Carolina offers a tuition reduction for students from its Sister-States? That's right!
The University of South Carolina, Columbia campus, is pleased to offer resident (in-state) tuition to citizens of Taiwan, Queensland, Australia, and the German States of Rhineland-Palatinate/Rhineland Pfalz, Thuringen and Brandenburg who are admitted students to all Bachelor, Master, PhD and non-degree programs. This benefit lowers tuition significantly, resulting in savings of approximately $14000 for undergraduate students and approximately $9500 in savings for graduate students.
The benefit was established through the sister-state agreement between the State of South Carolina and Taiwan, Queensland, Rhineland-Palatinate/Rhineland Pfalz, Thuringen and Brandenburg and is extended by the University of South Carolina. Applicants must be admitted to a program at the University of South Carolina and must demonstrate their residency in a Sister-State through their passport and other documentation, as requested. The tuition benefit is applicable throughout all years of study in a program. For current tuition/fee estimates with this benefit or for any other questions, please contact iss@sc.edu.
Have Dual Citizenship?
As a dual citizen you would be able to claim this benefit by applying as an international student. Because you are applying as an international student, the SAT will not be required, but the TOEFL (at least a score of 77) will be required. Even though it will not affect your admissions chances we would still encourage you to turn in your SAT scores if you are taking it, because it will allow you to apply for additional scholarships.
Everything you need to know about applying as an international student can be found here: http://www.sc.edu/admissions/apply/international/internationalrequirements.html .
